The video for what is looking like the last single from Jessie J’s Who You Are album has just been uploaded to YouTube and it’s a whole lot of fun. The song is ‘Who’s Laughing Now’, which was one of the few tracks from a largely weak record that had any personality.
Although a little inappropriate to release this week perhaps (you’ll see what we mean when you watch it) it’s full of vibrancy and colour and we really like it. Mini Jessie is adorable, and the entire clip is tongue-in-cheek and silly. Like pop music should be.
Have a look:
We like the bit where the mean girls sing the “oh my god babes…” line. Obnoxious!
The Saturdays also have a new video out today, but it’s boring.
We’ve been meaning to write about Jessie J for ages, but in typical Love Machine style we thought we’d forget all about it until our Dad said “Did you see that Jessie Somethingorother on Jools Holland last week?”, then notice that all and sundry have now blogged about her and our own view is somewhat redundant. Ah well.
Anyway, as even our dad now knows, Jessie J is rather wonderful. Not only did she write Party In The USA, but she’s in possession of quite a pair of pipes, and is now being a Proper Pop Star in her own right. We weren’t too keen on her first single Do It Like A Dude (which presumably involves doing it huffily only after significant nagging), but follow-up Price Tag is really very good indeed.
Our only qualm is her embracing of the kind of scowly-faced moments popularised by Cher Lloyd. Can someone please arrange a scowl-off for as soon as X Factor is finished? Thanks.
