This blogpost is not going be nasty about Wonderland, we just wanted an excuse to mention Snoop Dogg.
That’s better, you can never have enough Snoop.
Now, onto Wonderland. They are one of the top 3 of the new wave of girlbands (Parade and Soundgirl being the others), and their first video has been knocking around since December, but has finally been released as part of an EP.
Warning: this video contains a sofa in a forest.
The fact they’re releasing an ‘EP’, a terribly grown up thing to do, gives you an indication of what angle the girls are going for; add in the fact they’re ‘managed’ by Louis Walsh, and you can guess the result. Yes, it’s as middle of the road as cat’s eyes. It’s basically The Corrs meets Take That, in theory no bad thing as both of those bands are incredible, but this song is not up to the standards of either of those - it’s a little…..dull, although it is a perfectly nice song. The video is all autumnal ‘n’ serious colours and the girls all look great, but seem pretty interchangeable - still, it’s pretty difficult for the characters to come out when they get 30 seconds of screentime each.
In a huge surprise which confirms nepotism is dead in pop, they will be supporting Boyzone and Westlife on tour through March, so let us know what they’re like if you’re taking your gran to watch the ‘Life.
Anyway, it’s early days in the girlband race so we wait to see what they come up with next, maybe another Fleetwood Mac cover is in order…..?
