Okay, it’s not exactly breaking news, but let’s all be honest now - no one expected a reunited Steps to be singing live and singing well. Really well.

Here they are on Loose Women doing some chatter and then performing their best song (this is not up for discussion) ‘Deeper Shade Of Blue’.

We skipped the chatter to get to the performance, but apparently they said something about recording new music. We are 100% more on board with this than when we last posted about Steps, rather skeptically, a few months ago. In fact, we need to make an apology of sorts.

We’re sorry we doubted this reunion would be any short of brilliant and less than a success. Ever since we watched the first episode of the Sky Living documentary we have been steadily falling back in love with Steps, and now that we’ve bought our concert tickets and helped The Ultimate Collection get to #1, we are forced to eat our previous words, baked into a humble pie and swallowed down with our pride.

A Steps-themed Love Machine night is obviously inevitable.

Excuse the straight-to-the-point, pun free title but here at Love Machine, we have a lot of love for Oh My! They played a DJ set at our club night a few months back which was possibly the best guest DJ spot we’ve ever had. They were so good in fact, that they went and set up their own club night in direct competition with ours and… okay, we’re digressing now. They also have a quite decent buzz single called ‘Kicking And Screaming’ which we enjoy very much.

Alex (the one with long hair) and Jade (the one with short hair) have just revealed their music video for their first proper single and it’s nothing short of brilliance. The song is called ‘Dirty Dancer’, it features a guest rapper called Scrufizzer, and we’ve loved it long time, ever since we first heard it illicitly on the iPod of some of our better connected friends.

We were going to do one of our famous screencap reviews, but the daunting task of trying to pick out just some of the best moments made us flake out. In any case, the test of a good music video nowadays seems to be how many gifs can be rinsed out of it and reblogged around Tumblr. Popjustice reckons there’s 32, but we say there’s easily twice that number. We’d prove it if we knew how to make the damn things.

‘Dirty Dancer’ is out on iTunes on November 14th. We will be reminding you closer to the time to download it. Meanwhile, here are some handy links:
